COLOUR me happy :)

The SUN is out today - i'm wearing pink and grey (which, quite frankly, makes me happy) I had my hair COLOURED last night - meh, you might not see what i can see, or rather what i can't see: no nasty orange. no nasty re-growth. no greys.... just honied brown - colour me hair proud!
New buttons. Cool free bookmark from the library. Blackcurrant cordial = colour me cool!

Awesome *new* GIANT spotty buttons arrived - colour me excited... (what to do with them now?)

yumtastic lollies from the Traditional Sweet Shop down the road - colour me delicious (slurp)

Lunch out with my sunshine girl! Colour me sunny and fed.
Blooms hanging good in the sunshine - colour me *loving* that Victorian red brick work x

Buttony brooch. Spotty shower curtain - colour me happy to be in the world today :)

.......... Yippee x x x

I've been making these....

Usually, i have an IDEA, suddenly.
And it can take me no longer than a few hours to design, make, photograph and list it for sale! These little fellas seem to have been hovering in the studio half-made for about a year!
I think it took my Sister's input to make me finish a few.
She loved them and wanted one for herself,,,,, it was her birthday so i needed to finish at least one for part of her gift.

I think my issue was, i wasn't 100% sure .... what they 'are'!?
... my sister used hers as a keyfob / charm for her set of car keys.
... my daughter wore hers as a Zipper Pull on her jacket.
... i hung mine on my PIMPED (!) sewing machine as a handy pincushion...

So, you can see my dilemna?
They are a bit of fun. A splash of soft felt colour in your world.

I suppose you have to be a bit of a woodland / toadstool / mushroom 'fan' to see the appeal of these. But, anyway, they appeal to me...

Lots of variations on the same design and theme.
Different colourways and button choices.

Afterall, they are supposed to be 'fantastical' - who said they had to all be in red and brown?
Oh, colour play.
When will this fun ever stop? x

Ahhh Birthday-ness!

I want to say THANKYOU for all my birthday merriments and salutations. I am never usually one to 'make a fuss' but it all turned out so pretty!
I had a pile of lovely gifts - don't worry, i won't show you them all.... but very Colourful and Cookery and Cath and Cute...
Mmmmm - Gift Tokens!
Aaaahhh - shopping! Me and the YoungFish under my NEW owl teatowels x PAPERCHASE (on my list of 3 High Street weakness')
Wearing the Tea-towels.... !
Tea and cake at Station Yard Antiques Barn in Chipping Norton. Look at all that lovely crockery!! I was in heaven but ManFish struggled to get his heavy hands around the tea-cup handle (i love him for trying though)

MMMMmm bargain pearl necklace we bought from Past Times for £5

I had my hair cut which is always a nice birthday feeling. My hairdresser doesn't think it looks too red though............. ?! i beg to differ (been trying to cut all that red out)

Blue Wrap Dress has birthday significance as I am wearing it today but it was a thrift find on my birthday travels.
AND - look.... a present to ME from LauraFallulah too! She is a total sweetheart and i adore it!
See you in August my lovely x

Birthday Blogging x

It's Crafty Tuesday!

You wouldn't believe what i accomplished today!
Even i couldn't believe it...
Up early and get on with my usual Crafty Tuesday - i only have Tuesday's till 3pm to 'work' so you can bet i make the most of it... So, i cut out 20 or so felt hearts in many colours. So satisfying to see them all lined up, ready for action. Ready to made into fun Brooches.
I cut all the contrasting polka dot ribbons to clash and compliment with the heart colours....i love watching this build up of colour.

And when they get to look like THIS in a big pile.... i am in-love! I want to make them into a huge mobile of dangling colourful rainbow love, hhmmmmmm.

I spent a while bundling them into different places / into jars / onto trays .... just photographing their lovliness.

One by one, there comes the fiddly stage. Felt discs, button choice, thread decisions....
They are for a couple of wholesale orders which i really enjoy doing BUT only in minimum quantity. I don't like to feel like a prodcution line.
Although i only pay myself a minimum wage, the work place is comfortable and i can take a tea break whenever i like! I also get to email my friends when i like and arrange treats.
I did make more today (yes, i did!) but i shall save that surprise for another day x

FuzzyFish...

HA! Over the next few weeks, you may notice an increase in blog posts and Flickr photos involving FELT... The FuzzyFish is born... an online 'etsy' shop dedicated to the joy and colour of that medium many of us love - FELT! mmmmmm x
Of course it had to join the FISHY empire so the name FuzzyFish was an immediate choice - a 'Fish' shop with an ironic edge (never take yourself too seriously, that is my motto)

Of course, after hours of photography, editing, felt in and out of boxes, swatch book making, listing each individual size and colour.... I am hating felt right now.
I am wondering if i took large fourth helping of Nigella's Chocolate Cake without really needing it and this could be 'theee' slice that makes me sick?

The FuzzyFish Felt shop is not going to make my fortune, i know. Tis a competetive market and many people prefer wool / wool blend felt to my 100% acrylic. But this is my felt of choice - i love it! I love the colours and i love the fabric to work with, it is a dream. And, as i buy it by the van load anyway, it seemed odd not to have an etsy shop to sell it all in too?
MMMmmmm, fuzzy, felty dreams in 24 techni-colours ... i'll introduce the new colours all separately in later blog posts ... not because I am attempting a 'hard sell' but honestly because the colours look sooooo good i love the colour fix of seeing them all on screen.

Oh, Luscious Neon fix - 80's revival - i want to play x

P.s. I owe my little Sister a huge thankyou for:
Handing me rolls of felt in the 'photographic studio' (!!)
Organising the colours and the stock control system
Making the Swatch books
Cutting all those little Fishes out
Being good company even though she had a stinking rotten cold
Working on a new shop Banner (on it's way...)
I now declare the *new* Felt shop officially......... open x

I *had* to Blog a bit of Christmas...

CheeseFish!!! check that smile - very proud of her advent calender (all handmade and Mummy wrapped gifts each day x) Fluffy Balls - my favourite...
My windows - i love white and silver with red and white ribbons... my whole tree is white, silver and red, mmmmm x

Welcome! As it says at my back door (you know a good friend when they come straight to your back door) Still in love with my Christmas mini-bunting x it dresses the house so easily and quickly AND you get decorations 'inside' and 'outside' if they are hung in windows.

Not handmade, but grandma bought it for ToddleFish and we added the ribbon (mmm red polka dots)

To me - THIS is Christmas x Chubby hand of a 4yr old holding the silver wrapper of her chocolate coins gobbled from this mornings advent calender. It is so much more fun with children (as KIRSTY WISEMAN might agree)

OOOhhhh i LUFFS my santa man x bought last year from Kirsty Southam - before her great etsy shop >>>> gets your HERE x

SO ...... Merry Christmas, from my house to yours x
MrsB - so wish you were coming over for fine food and wine x
