Help me Buttons Lovers....

VINTAGE BAKERLITEs
As suggested in previous posts.... i need your input!
I need your button appreciation abilities.
PERIWINKLES
There will be a prize. And i haven't got it sorted to photo yet. But, it will be a Goody Bag of sorts with lots of bits and buttons and maybe a book or a magazine?
 DOLLS HOUSE
and really, you have very little to do. I am asking very little from you all, in order to help me out AND be in with a chance of winning a fun Goody Bag!
 BLOOMING GORGEOUS
(n.b: these are BIG 1.5inch across / 4cm!)
Just leave me a little note in my box of comments... telling me...which of these sets of buttons you like? and why? or what you'd use them for?... or even what you wouldn't use them for but someone else might?
DECO LUSH
I know, price would always make a difference to what you buy and for 'what use' - it is always a factor in my choices. I can't list these prices as i haven't got them sorted yet. None of these buttons here are cheap though. We are talking between 40p and £1.00 per button across this range. If i were selling them, they would be sold in pairs and groups. That is why they are so lovely though. If they were cheap as chips everybody would already be using them, right?

To start: i adore DECO LUSH and i AM going to use one of these chunky dudes on a big cardi i've got that needs it's ONE button replacing - this is the baby for the job. I would also adore a necklace made using a few of these.....
Anyone else?

Lovely buttony goodness!!! I love the bakelite buttons and I'd use them in the middle of a floral brooch. The dolls house buttons are gorgeous too - maybe I'd use them on a crochet bag or purse. I'm not sure I could choose between the two styles!! Not surprised you need help!! Fiona x

I agree with you, the DECO LUSH would look great, and they're the ones that stand out as "ooh I've never seen THOSE before!!"
I also REALLY love the BLOOMING GORGEOUS ones... so versatile! They'd make lovely simple accessories - hairclips, earrings etc, or as a sweet embellishment on a pretty springtime skirt! =)

Completely agree about the Deco Lush on a cardi - it is absolutely what I'd use them for. And the Dollshouse ones would be great as fridge magnets. All gorgeous.

Oh wow! LOVING the DECO LUSH! They're crying out to be made into rings IMHO.

Those bakerlite beauties would make a fab necklace.

Was I supposed to chose just one? Hope not because I just can't make a decision :D

Well they are all lovely, but I think I would have vintage bakerlite and I think I would make them into fridge magnets.

I love love love blooming gorgeous and periwinkles! not sure what I'd use them for considering the price though... the blooming gorgeous would look cute on a child's bracelet, and the periwinkles would be nice as buttons for a little girl's cardi - the deco lush are more retro, and would be good on an adult cardi I guess - but I'm just totally smitten with the flower shaped ones!

I looovve the first ones. Buttons are my favorite thing and those are very unique. I like them because they are vintage but the colors look new. SO cute!

I love the DOLLS HOUSE buttons, i love them because they look like mini pie dishes! So I would make a vintage style mini half apron and sew these on the front, with the words I LOVE PIE! My imagination always ends up with food! Love the blog x

I love the bakelite buttons, they are beautiful, I would use them at the centre of bows and corsages attached to bags and to decorate the bottoms of bag handles! The dolls house are also super cute, I would use them on little tags and small fabric flowers as centres or even stick them on to a letter to make it look realy special. xx

I agree absolutely with Emma, I thought those dolls houses looked like pie dishes to. They would look amazing on and apron. I am inspired.
I also love the bakelite (such and interesting shape) and blooming goregeous (a bit more than just flower shaped). A wee drop would go a long way and be an inspiration for a few things.....pondering!

You are such a tease but I must forgive you this time seeing how you are offering a prize for teasing us! (I forgive you every time if truth be told)

I love the Deco Lush - would probably use as an embelishment on Sew Liberated's Schoolhouse Tunic, but then again, I love the Bakerlites - maybe use for the centre of a crocheted brooch - but which is better???? There's only one way to find out - buy them both! :o)

What gorgeous buttons!

Well I just love the Vintage bakelite ones. And the flowery ones too.

I could definately see a spring like necklace made with the flower buttons. But would also you any one of them to embellish cardigans on cute rabbits and pretty dolls that I sometimes make. Too yummy for words.

For me it would be the Blooming Gorgeous! I have made some felt bags and these would look gorgeous as decoration on them!
I'd have to make a pink one into a hair clip for me though!

VINTAGE BAKERLITES! wood look seriousy good on the front of a sweet high waisted linen skirt!!

Heather said...

I would use "blooming gorgeous" to make into fridge magnets.

Heather said...

in fact I would also use blooming gorgeous and make a necklace because I need a big flowery necklace. Just one button, perhaps the pink or the turquoise, because they would go nicely with my new tops.

definitely blooming gorgeous for me i would make them into individual brooches but put them in clusters on my cardi - then again they would make fabulous hair slides - then again they would make a really fab ring-then again they would look really good as an embellishment on my upcycled owls - oh i don't know -all the above and more !!!!

Ooh the blooming gorgeous one's are totally fab! I can definitely see them being used to replace boring buttons on an old cardi. Or perhaps used as the blooms on an embroidery hoop piece.

My favourites?

DECO LUSH :
I ♥ their retro-look!
Trendy on coat and jacket but also as deco on pants or skirts

VINTAGE BAKERLITE:
I mean, just the sound of that word "bakerlite" and I must think of the 50ies with its pettycoats, Chanel suits and leather gloves.
I probably would buy tons of these and then not be able to find the courage to use them but just stare at their gorgeous shape

DOLLS HOUSE
well, as a matter of fact they remember me of a jam tart.
They are sooooo cute !!
My doughter would love to wear each of them as hairclip or on a bracelet.
I would use them certainly on a very special bag or as embellishment on a scarf

I hope you DON'T HAVE to decide yourself for just one of those!!! I want all of them ! and in each colour !!

Ms C @ HappyElastic said...

I love and want them all!I do especially like the Periwinkles, despite hating the word. They would be lovely on a girls pinafore dress. I'd use the Dolls House on a cardigan for meeee!

ack!! too hard to choose! so many pretty buttons :D

if I really had to choose it would be the blooming gorgeous ones :) i love the flower shapes and the colours and would use them as either decoration on a crochet bag or as actual buttons on them for the pockets :)

MMmmmmmm! Buttons! I'd use the blooming gorgeous on my flower garden pincushions and needle books. Might have to put a few on hair clips too, and maybe my coat?! :D

Vintage bakerlite are my favourite if you are making me choose just one!
Don't know what I would use them for just yet, but just to know I had them in my stash would make me happy :0)

Phiona said...

It would have to be the vintage bakelite for me. I could see them attached to a lacey crochets hat.

They are all delightful though.

Sarah said...

Ohhh it's hard to choose as they are all lovely! But if I have to choose just one it would have to be blooming gorgeous!! They'd look lovely on a Childs Cardigan, summery birthday cards, sewn on pretty spring/summer bunting, made into jewellery, broches...... Oh the possibilities are endless with such loveliness !!!!!

I love the Doll's House ones. they remind me of lovely homemade pies, rhubarb springs to mind. I think it would look good on the pocket of a retro apron made with Cath Kidston fabric to wear whilst making a scrummy pie. Dorothyx

The periwinkle ones. Oh my, they are absolutely adorable. I have no idea of what I would use them for - other than sit and admire them all day. But that is not a bad thing either, right?

Melissa @ Miso Crafty Knits said...

Oh...my...how in the world do you expect us to choose?? Such lovely, lovely, wonderful buttons that you have in your possession!
For me though, the Vintage Bakerlites are top notch. With the Dolls House a VERY close second!! To be honest I think these buttons are way too precious to use. If I was still a child I would be clutching these in my fist and carrying them everywhere I went, checking every so often to make sure I still had them! But as an adult, I think a lovely, simple arrangement in a shadow box placed beside my dresser (or bed!) would do. Or, if I could find just the right patterns, I would knit cardigans just so that I could wear and show off such little beauties! Beautiful buttons deserve to be worn on a handmade, handknit garment made with love!

All your buttons look beautiful - but as I have to choose, Vintage Bakerlite would be my favourite and and I would use them to embellish a vintage inspired corsage,or birthday bunting.

belclau said...

Coucou belle Kirsty!
Those buttons are so, so beautiful, all of them, and it's difficult to make a choice. There must be a project for every set, as all the ladies before me show you, right?
But lets see, i think that in my case, as we're living a lovely spring (i hope you too!!!!), i'd use those little Blooming gorgeous for a necklace or a brooch.
And on the other hand, my favorites, Periwinkles, would be so gorgeous transformed into earrings, don't you think? :)
Voili, voilou, voilà ;D
