You can keep your expensive exhibition halls, miles up the motorway, with 'Booths' costing Hundreds of pounds....
You can keep your 'terribly exclusive' designer fairs with people who think they are "People" and with their 'networking' and their "Ya, i'll email you"...
You can keep your private house parties "by invitation only" where it's all about who does what for which "chariddy darling" and where Tarquin is attending Pony Club....
Beacause really, i am happiest in a local Church with tables balanced on pews. With the WI cake stand and Beryl running the raffle and cups of tea in utility china....
I am happiest when i am local and my mum comes to help me for the day.And i am happiest talking to other people who love crafts and want to know how my daughter is and 'people' who "don't do email" but 'could i pop that item round when i'm passing by next week...?'
I like real people and real craft fairs. It makes the day much nicer :)

I feel exactly the same, I only do local, the thought of hauling my stuff into London or some other big city just kills me. Shop Local doesn't just apply to food!
I totally agree! I just did my first every craft fair today with my friend Helen - I wasn so nervous that it was going to be full of snooty people looking down on my stuff (I know its not everyone's taste but I love it and it makes me happy). Instead we met some lovely people who were so helpful and kind - I'm so glad we were brave and went for it. Thanks with the inspiration through your blog! :-) x

I do so agree, Kirsty! I find local is best - somewhere I can tote my wares easily by bus (we have no car)and where I feel I'm supporting a good cause. As long as I make my stall hire back and a little over, I'm happy as the people are always lovely, the conversations great and I occasionally bump into my customers wearing and enjoying my jewellery several months on.
Craft stalls at Christmas are the best! I love a cup of tea in those little green cup and saucers (On the look out for some in the charity shops).

Oh Kirsty...I just found this post and cannot agree with you more. A craft fair shouldn't be a business, it should be like minded, creative types gathering together for a day of coffee and chat...and if we manage to sell something, well that's great too.
